What’s on my December 2021 TBR

Happy Thursday book friends! It’s the second day of December, and I have compiled a small TBR to share with you. As you know, I hardly ever stick to a TBR, so we’ll see how many books from this list I’ll actually end up reading.

There are some books on my December TBR that I just have to read, because I’m superduper close to completing the SFF Badge Collection! I need three more badges before I can claim the Collector badge. This challenge was so fun, and because it spanned the whole year, it was also very manageable. I’m hoping there will be another challenge like this one next year.

Anyway, let’s take a look at the TBR of mine!

The Lost War

By Justin Lee Anderson

This is one of the books that I want to read for the SFF Badge Collection. It seems like a great epic fantasy, and after reading mostly YA lately I think I’m ready to read something darker and grittier. It won the SPFBO last year, so I’m sure it’s going to be very good! It’ll also help me toward my goal of reading more self-published books.

To Sleep in a Sea of Stars

By Christopher Paolini

I want to read this one to collect the First Contact badge, though I do have a backup ready in case I don’t end up reading this book. It’s quite chunky, and nowadays I don’t have the patience to weed through 800 pages of story. So, we’ll see what happens. I still want to read it, but I might feel less pressured to do so if it’s not required to finish my badge collection.

The Clockwork Ghost

By Laura Ruby

Now for something entirely different: a middle grade! I haven’t read a middle grade in a long while, and The Clockwork Ghost is the sequel to The Shadow Cipher; a book I highly enjoyed a few years ago. It will also most likely allow me to claim the Animal Companion badge. I’m very excited to read this this month, and it’s probably the only book from this TBR that I’ll definitely read.

Kingdom of the Cursed

By Kerri Maniscalco

I found myself accidentally procrastinating on reading this one. I haven’t owned it for a very long time (it also hasn’t been out that long), but I honestly could’ve read it ten times by now. Back in 2020 I read an ARC of Kingdom of the Wicked, so I already had to wait over a year for the sequel. So I’m not sure why I still haven’t read it. Reading Kingdom of the Cursed will definitely be my goal this month.

And that’s it for my December 2021 TBR! I added four books only, because it’ll allow me to mood read other books in between without feeling guilty or pressured to follow my TBR. Hopefully I’ll be able to read all of these books this month though! What’s on your TBR in December? Let me know!
