Books I Keep Meaning to Buy… But Don’t

Happy Sunday book friends! I know we all have massive TBRs and that someday it’ll probably become sentient and crush us under its massive weight, but do you also have a wishlist like me and then never buy the books on it? Honestly my TBR doesn’t scare me, my Amazon to-buy list does…

So this post will be about all the books I keep meaning to buy but then end up not buying. Mostly these are books that I do want to own, but have already read on my e-reader. So are they a priority? No, which is probably why I don’t own them yet. But do I still want them? Absolutely I do.

The Clockwork Ghost

By Laura Ruby

So, I actually finished reading this one on my e-reader last Friday, because it was on my TBR for this month. But I really want a hardcover of it, too. I have the first book in this series, The Shadow Cipher, as well so obviously I need to complete the whole series on my shelves. This book got published in 2019, so even though finding the hardcover isn’t impossible, it’s also not exactly easy. Dutch stores don’t have it at all, and it seems like my only option is getting it out of the UK. Maybe I’ll ask this book for Christmas lol.

Cibola Burn

By James S.A. Corey

I’ve been meaning to get the fourth book in the Expanse series ever since I finished the third book at the beginning of the year. But… I have to be very sure that I get the correct edition or else the series won’t match. And honestly, I just have not yet put in the effort to research where I can get the correct edition. I feel like at this point I’ll probably own the special edition of Leviathan Wakes before I own Cibola Burn.

A Grimm Warning

By Chris Colfer

I’m pretty sure this was the first book I finished in 2020, and I read it on my e-reader. It’s the third book in the Land of Stories series, a middle grade based on Grimm’s fairytales. So I own books 1 and 2, but 3 not yet. I should probably buy book 3 and 4 at the same time (if I ever do that) so that I can prevent this same situation where I procrastinate on completing a series.

Ninth House

By Leigh Bardugo

Read this one on my e-reader in 2019 after it came out, and then never bought the actual book. I really want to own the hardcover though, especially with book two on the horizon (I don’t think there’s a release date, but still). I think as soon as more news of book 2 comes out I will finally purchase Ninth House and add her to my ever growing Bardugo collection.

Vengeful

By V.E. Schwab

I read Vicious very early in 2020 and absolutely loved it. It kind of felt like reading a superhero comic book, except it was about villains and there were no pictures. So why have I not bought, or even read, Vengeful yet? Honestly, no clue. It’s on my Amazon wishlist though, so I get reminded of its existence every time I add a new book. Okay, but actually I really should get myself a copy (and read it) before 2022 starts, because the idea of leaving two whole years between reading book 1 and 2 just sounds like a big no-no to me.

And that’s it! A short list of books that have been on my to-buy list forever, and yet… Though full disclosure, I did get a bunch of books in the past months that could’ve also made this list. So yay, it’s not all that bad! Are there any books you’ve been meaning to get forever but for some reason haven’t? Let me know!
