Reading Check In – July – September

Happy October book friends! Well, we’re already a week in, but still. I hope you guys are ready for spooky season, and I wish you all the good Fall vibes this year.

But first, I owe you a reading check in for July through September. It honestly hasn’t been a bad couple of months in terms of reading. I read thirteen books, which makes an average of four per month! I also fully moved to the United States again, and have already made way too many Barnes & Noble visits. Thinking of how to get all those books back home is already giving me a headache…

But anyway, here’s what I read between July and September!

July

July was a good reading month for me! I finally read Foul Lady Fortune, which became a new obsession and the reason I know more about Chinese history than I did before. Also really loved Garden of the Cursed. My favorite was definitely The Ashes and the Star Cursed King. The Serpent and the Wings of Night left me so sad. I can’t wait for the next books in the series to come out!

August

I read a lot less in August, but in my defense, I had a LOT going on. I had to finish up my previous placement, clean my apartment, receive my American friends for a week, clean my apartment, pack my bags, and leave the country. The Library of Shadows and the Scarlet Veil were both arcs. The Library of Shadows ended up being a super cute romance. The Scarlet Veil, however, was my absolute favorite. Even if I had read 10 other books it would’ve been my favorite. Monstress was recommended to me by a friend, and you’ll see below that I’m having a good time with it considering I read up to volume 5 by now.

September

Yup, lots more Monstress here. I love all the detail in these books. They only take me an hour or so to read through, so they’ve been great for my Goodreads Challenge. The Brothers Hawthorne was the first book I bought at B&N. I had honestly forgotten it was coming out, so it was a nice surprise seeing it. I got the B&N exclusive edition, of course. The Night Hunt was another arc. I struggled a bit with this one in the beginning, but overall it was quite a fun read!

And that’s it for this reading check in! I feel like I need to buy less and read more, but you and I both know that’s not gonna happen. Especially because so many good books are still coming out! Oh well, see you in December for the final(!!) check in of the year!
