WWW Wednesday – More Work, Less Reading

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope everyone is having a good week so far. The weather has been totally bonkers here. Snow one moment, then sunshine, then sleet… It’s so weird. Good thing I don’t have to go outside, because I have a lot of work to do!

Anyway, WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking on a World of Books, and all you need to do is answer these three questions:work

– What are you currently reading?
– What did you recently finish reading?
– And what do you think you’ll read next?

Not a whole lot has changed since my last WWW Wednesday post, but I hope you enjoy reading regardless!

P.S: My posts look best when viewed in landscape mode on your phone or on your desktop!

What I’m Currently Reading

Dog Whistle Politics: how coded racial appeals have reinvented racism & wrecked the middle class

By Ian Haney López

I said in one of my previous posts that I am going to exclusively work on my thesis now that the deadline is only two months away. A good chunk of my research is on dog whistle language, and how it is used to appeal to certain audiences without using words that would scare others away. I don’t normally read entire books for my research (who has the time for that??), but this one is really interesting and uses clear language, so I’m gonna read the whole thing. I’ve already learned some things that I wasn’t aware of.

Call Down the Hawk

By Maggie Stiefvater

You may also remember that I said I wouldn’t pick up any for-fun books until my thesis is done. But after careful review I have decided that is impossible, and I should take the time to get some reading done for myself in the evenings. I only started this one yesterday, so I can’t say much about it yet! I loved the Raven Cycle though, so I hope I’ll enjoy this one as well. It’s about time I got to this book, because its sequel comes out this year!

What I Recently Finished

Get A Life, Chloe Brown

By Talia Hibbert

I can’t believe this is the last book I finished because it feels so long ago. I still catch myself occasionally thinking about this book, and I am sure I will read the other two books in this series very soon! It definitely has me convinced that I should read more happy contemporary romances, because as it turns out, I do love sappy love stories! So leave a comment down below with some recommendations for me!

What I’ll Read Next

Take a Hint, Dani Brown

By Talia Hibbert

This is very tentative because I have completely lost track of what I’m in the mood for and what’s on my TBR. But like I said, I still think about Get a Life, Chloe Brown, so obviously the best way to fix that is to continue the series! I don’t know when that’s going to happen, though. I know you’re sick of hearing it, but I’m prioritizing reading for research. This month I’ll take it very slow with reading for fun. At least that’ll make for a quick wrap-up lol.

And that’s it for this week’s WWW Wednesday! What are you reading at the moment?
