Happy Wednesday book friends! I don’t know why I didn’t post a WWW Wednesday post last week, considering I have been on leave since August 9, but oh well. Here’s an update for y’all!
And oh yeah, here’s the rules for WWW Wednesday, of course.cozy fantasy cozy fantasy
WWW Wednesday is hosted by Taking on a World of Books, and all you need to do is answer these three questions:
– What are you currently reading?
– What did you recently finish reading?
– And what do you think you’ll read next?
What I’m currently reading
The Republic of Thieves
By Scott Lynch
And with currently reading I mean I’ve only read the first 15 pages last night before going to bed because I had just finished a book an hour earlier. The Republic of Thieves has been on my TBR forEVER, so it’s high time I started reading it. I’ve heard only good things though, so I’m excited. I think I’m currently in the exact right mood to read a fantasy like this. High stakes, lots of scheming and an awesome world.
What I recently finished
Lore Olympus Vol 6
By Rachel Smythe
I’ve been absolutely loving Lore Olympus lately. The only downside to these books is that I read them way too fast. I buy the next volume and an hour later I’ve already finished it. But I really like the story and the artwork is amazing. When all books are out I’ll likely reread all of them back to back.
Assistant to the Villain
By Hannah Nicole Maehrer
I was reading this book during my last WWW Wednesday and now I’ve obviously finished it. My opinion of it is the same; it’s a fun take on the fantasy-romance genre. I laughed out loud a couple of times, too. It was quite low stakes, but for such a fun book it hit home a couple of times, too.
Apprentice to the Villain
By Hannah Nicole Maehrer
Ah, I remember now why I didn’t post a WWW Wednesday last week. I was taking an exam. That did give me the opportunity to go to my favorite bookstore afterward, and I got Apprentice to the Villain. It wasn’t my intention to immediately start reading it, but that’s what happened and I finished it two days later. Like Assistant the Villain I thought this was a super fun book, too! I really liked the added POVs. I’m excited for the third book now, but I’ll have to wait a while for it to come out, because this one was released at the beginning of this month…
Bookshops & Bonedust
By Travis Baldree
Oh look at that, another low stakes cozy fantasy. Like Legends & Lattes I highly enjoyed this one. It was fun to see how Viv started out and all the friendships she made along the way. I did wish there was a but more focus on rebuilding the bookshop though. But maybe I’m just entirely too biased toward books?
A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon
By Sarah Hawley
My last cozy fantasy read of the week was A Witch’s Guide to Fake Dating a Demon. And yes, I’m counting it as cozy. The main character is a plant-witch who loves to bake, I don’t know how it can get more cozy than that. Overall I quite liked it, it was cute. There were some minor issues but nothing to deter me from reading. And I finished it in two days, so that also says something.
What I’ll read next
Silver & Bone
By Claudia Cain
Honestly, who knows what I’ll read next. I’ve barely begun the Republic of thieves and my reading mood is unpredictable. However, I got a new ARC for Silver & Bone in the mail and I’m excited to read it. Claudia Cain is rereleasing this book with some changes. I first reviewed it in 2017 I believe and really enjoyed it then, so I’m excited to revisit and see what’s changed!
