Top Ten Tuesday – Happy Mardi Gras!

Happy Top Ten Tuesday book friends! I have hardly done anything with my platforms lately, because I was outside playing in the Winter snow! We had some amazing freezing weather, so for the first time in a long while, we could finally ice skate on natural ice again. It was so much fun!

Anyway, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and you can find all past and future prompts on her blog! This week the prompt is: purple, yellow, and green book covers in celebration of Mardi Gras!mardi gras

I have never celebrated Mardi Gras in my whole life, but over here in the Southern Netherlands we do have Carnaval. You should look up Dutch Carnaval music if you want an impression of what that’s like. And also if you want your ears to bleed. Just kidding, I actually like Carnaval. This year celebrating is impossible of course, so these pretty colored book covers will have to do!

The Gilded Wolves – Roshani Chokshi

Let’s start with green! I actually think this one deserves bonus points because it also has yellow and purple on the cover. Those golden flourishes to kind of remind me of a carnaval! Have you read this book yet? I enjoyed this one, but the sequel is even better! The cover for the final installment, The Bronzed Beast, got releases a while ago and I nearly died. NEED.

King of Scars – Leigh Bardugo

This is probably the most yellow book I own. And by yellow I actually mean gold of course. To be honest I always considered gold to be metallic yellow… Anyway, is anyone else excited for Rule of Wolves to come out next month? I love that cover too. There’s so much detail!

The Bone Witch – Rin Chupeco

Time for purple! This is one of my favorite purple books I own. Granted, I don’t own that many, but this cover is really beautiful! I actually never finished this book, which I’m a little sad about. I want to try again some day, because I feel like back then I wasn’t in the right headspace. But I am curious about the rest of the series, so I’ll give it a go again!

A Heart So Fierce And Broken – Brigid Kemmerer

Back to green! This book was actually one of my favorites of last year. I was a little skeptical at first, because the story wouldn’t center around Harper and Rhen. I don’t usually do well with series that suddenly have entirely new characters at the front. But this was so good! Definitely no second-book-syndrome with this one.

Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J. Maas

I always thought it was funny that Kingdom of Ash is so bright yellow compared to the other books. The others have colors too, but line up their spines and this one definitely stands out. I actually really like the art on this one, I think it’s my favorite out of all the Throne of Glass covers.

Shadow & Bone – Leigh Bardugo

This is another one of my favorite purple covers, which is mainly because hardly anyone I know has this edition! I like this one a lot more than the U.S. gray version. I have to say that one big plus about living in the Netherlands is that it’s way easier to obtain British editions of books!

The Empire of Gold – S.A. Chakraborty

More green and yellow! Or gold! Whatever! If you haven’t read this series yet, I seriously question what you’ve been doing. This book was also super chonky, so if you’re into that, go read this series!

The Priory of the Orange Tree – Samantha Shannon/center>

<

This is probably my absolute favorite yellow book. I don’t have many of those either, but even if I did, this one would still be a favorite. It’s so prettyyyy. It helps that the story is really good, too. I still can’t believe I read this whole thing in hardcover. Have I no respect for my wrists?

Skyward – Brandon Sanderson

Final purple book of this list! I loved Skyward. And I loved Starsight, too. Goodreads says that the third book, Nowhere, will be published this year, and I really hope that’s true. Starsight kind of ended on a cliffhanger and I REALLY need to know what happens next.

A Court of Wings and Ruin – Sarah J. Maas

Ending with ACOWAR in honor of A Court of Silver Flames being out today! Storygraph link will come up later, as they went down for maintenance literally while I was writing this post. Anyway, I am forever looking for a dress that looks like Feyre’s on this cover. I hope everyone that’s reading ACOSF today has a good time!

And that’s it! I hope you liked my colorful selections in honor of Mardi Gras. Do you have a favorite cover with green, yellow, and/or purple on it? I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!
