Hello book friends! Life has been a little busy lately, but I finally had time to put this post together. I got tagged by Leah from Leah’s Books and Cooks to the the Reading Habits Books Tag!
Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
The most consistent of my reading habits is that I read in my bed, because it’s super comfortable. But you can also find me on the couch nowadays!
Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Uhm… I tend to use neither, haha. I usually remember where I left off. But if I do need to keep track for some reason, I tend to use a real bookmark.
Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?
When I’m at home I often finish the chapter first. I have an hour train commute though, so I also read on the train now. But sometimes I don’t have time to finish the chapter before I get to my station and have to stop reading. That does kind of annoy me.
Do you drink or eat while reading?
YES. Give me all the snacks. Though I’ve noticed that every time I start snacking on something, I’ll come across a super graphic, gruesome scene and my appetite is gone…
Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?
I can’t read with the TV on, but I sometimes will put on music that matches the theme of the book. So if I’m reading science fiction, I’ll put on some synth wave music as a scene setter!
One book at a time or several at once?
I used to read only one book at a time, but I’ve gotten better at reading more than one. I now have an “at home book” and an “on the go book.”

Reading at home or everywhere?
I prefer reading at home. I have this weird thing where I can’t finish a book in public, I need to be cozied up in my own bed for that. But, since I have a long commute and sometimes you just find yourself waiting for a bit, I like having a book with me to pass the time.
Reading out loud or silently in your head?
I have a voice inside my head that’s a pretty decent narrator. For some reason I suck at reading out loud, haha. I know this because of babysitting. Sometimes the kids even correct my English… *facepalm*
Do you read ahead or skip pages?
I try not to, but I do catch myself skipping between dialogues sometimes. Not the entire text, but small bits and pieces. Also, if I’m rereading a book and come across a chapter I didn’t like, I’ll skip it because I know what happens anyway.
Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
I like keeping mine like new! Books fit better on my shelf that way as well. I have this weird reading habit where I open paperbacks at a 90 degree angle so I won’t crack the spine. Also, floppy paperbacks are my favorite because their spines are indestructible.
Do you write in your books?
I do not. I don’t have anything against it, I just don’t know what to put in the margins. Though I tend to annotate things I read for class.

Readabits Questions
When do you find yourself reading?
Mostly whenever I have time. These days it’s limited to my commute and in the evening before I got to bed.
What is your best setting to read in?
Somewhere comfortable with snacks nearby. Would also prefer it to be quiet, with the exception of my own background music of course.
What do you do first – read or watch?
I tend to read first. However, I have started reading books because I saw the movie. This happened with The Hunger Games, the Maze Runner, and even… Harry Potter.
What form do you prefer? Audiobook, e-book, or physical book?
I still prefer physical book the most! But e-books are lifesavers when you’re often on the go like me. I never bring physical books with me on vacation anymore. Especially since my e-reader connects to Overdrive and I can just borrow whatever I want from the library.
Do you have a unique habit when you read?
I can only think of opening paperback books at a 90 degree angle right now… BUT, I do have an entire post dedicated to my bookish quirks! There are some weird reading habits in there as well.
Do book series have to match?
Yes. When I started reading the Mortal Instruments, the first book was a different edition and you could tell. Went and bought the correct one. I also didn’t want to own SJM’s Throne of Glass books because I hated the first cover, and it didn’t match with the rest. Thank god they changed that cover.
That was it! I hope you enjoyed reading about my reading habits. As always, if this looks fun to you, tag yourself!
