    My Answers

You’ve woken up in Halloween-land! Outside it’s a crisp, cloudy day, and it is time to pick a spooky character that you’ll be for the rest of the day. What are you choosing?

When I was younger I would literally dress up as a witch every year for Halloween and Dutch carnaval. I think I’ll spend this day as a real witch! You know, one of those cute cottage witches who brews bubbly potions and has five thousand plants and seven cats.

After getting ready, it is time to run some errands. After all, you’re hosting the biggest Halloween party in town tonight. What is on your Halloweeny shopping list?

I love going all-out with the decor, so I’m going to get fake headstones for in the front yard, a ton of fake spider webs, lots of pumpkins, and a ton of fairy lights to create the perfect atmosphere!

You’ve stumbled across a bookshop. Which scary book are you bringing home with you to read by candlelight?

Hmm I never read truly scary books, but I’ve always wanted a copy of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark! It’s technically children’s but Coraline was creepy, too, so. Either way, scary short stories seem like a lot of fun to read by real candlelight!

After all those errands you deserve a treat from your favorite coffeeshop. What is your go-to autumnal order?

I actually don’t like pumpkin flavored things, no matter how autumnal they are. I do like apple flavored things, though! So I’d probably get something warm, but refreshing, with apples and cinnamon in it. I also really enjoy apple tarts/pies so might get one of those, too. Or maybe a pumpkin shaped sugar cookie!

Time to continue prepping for tonight’s party! What will be the main entertainment?

One time when I went trick or treating in the U.S., we stumbled upon a house whose owners had transformed their backyard into a scary maze. Around every corner they had friends or family in costume waiting to scare the shit out of you when you walked by. One guy even chased us with a chainsaw! It would be so cool to replicate this at this fictional party. And I also hope to one day have a yard big enough to replicate it in real life!

You invited five fictional characters, and they all show up. Which ones are going to knock on your door when the party starts?

Hmmm this is a hard question (I came up with it myself, I know). I would love to have Zuzanna from Daughter of Smoke and Bone there. She’s Karou’s best friend, and I loved her personality when I first read the books. I think she would perfectly fit the vibe of a Halloween party. I would also like Zoya and Nikolai from the Grishaverse books. Ever since King of Scars Zoya has become a new favorite character of mine, as Nikolai always has been. I also want Lila Bard from A Darker Shade of Magic, because duh, and Vin from Mistborn! Both of these characters are some of my all-time favs.

Your guests are starting to stream in, so it’s time to finally party. What music are you all going to dance to tonight?

I love 80s music, so I’ll probably put on a playlist with some absolute bangers. Of course there will be some Halloween-themed music strewn in too! But mostly 80s music.

Oh no, a poltergeist is threatening to ruin your good time! Quick, how do you and your guests get rid of it?

Call a priest?? How does one even thwart a poltergeist? I think this will need some real creativity! Maybe we could lure it out of the house by using some kind of bait. Or by offering to let it ruin a party elsewhere it will go away! Leave my party alone please.

Phew, the party has been saved. Time for drinks! You’re serving three magical potions that’ll grant special powers until dawn. What are their powers and which one will you be sipping?

Hmm let’s see… They would need to be potions that are somewhat relevant to the party. I’m thinking one potion that grants endless energy so one can spend the whole night dancing, one potion that makes sure you’re never full, so you can eat all the treats you want, and one potion to change one’s hairstyle and color instantly. I think all of these would be useful at a party, but I think I’ll take the third one! I’ve always wanted to be able to try new hairstyles and colors without the commitment. Because what if it looks like shit?? Can’t take that risk.

The night is coming to an end. How are you going to end the party with a bang?

A costume contest and some fireworks! Costume contests are great, because they encourage people to put effort into their costumes. And fireworks would literally end the party with a bang. I’d of course attempt to get fireworks in true Halloween colors, so orange, green and purple.

And that’s it for this year’s Spooky Scary Skeletons tag! I hoped you liked reading my answers, and that you’ll have fun too!
