Popular Books I Haven’t Read

Happy Wednesday book friends! Today is my last day of work for this week, and I’m looking forward to sleeping in. Even though I already do that on the weekends, too… Oh well, I’ll have more reading time as well! Maybe I can pick up one of the books I’m gonna mention in this post…

I’m normally very good at reading books that are popular. I’ve read all the Grisha books, I’ve read ACTOAR and Throne of Glass, and also the Selection and the Shatter Me series, to name as few. But there are a few books out there that were/are really popular that I have not read despite having plans to do so. So here they are!

An Ember in the Ashes

By Sabaa Tahir

I think I can make a post like this every year, and every year I will be able to mention this book. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, considering I own the first three books. They are very pretty. But, as of yet, unread. Someone please send me the motivation to pick these up, because I seriously have to sooner rather than later. Although maybe I’ll wait until the paperback of the last book comes out, so that I can binge read…

Clockwork Princess

By Cassandra Clare

I’ve read both Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince; really enjoyed those, and then for some reason stopped reading. It’s been like six years since I finished those two, so I don’t even really remember what happened. I kind of someday want to read these again, but… I also know how it ends so I’m not super motivated to actually do so. At least they look good on my shelves, lol.

The Lightning Thief

By Rick Riordan

So I’m not sure how serious I am when I say I plan to pick this series up, but it’s such a staple in American middle school culture that I feel kind of left out. I’ve actually never read anything by Rick Riordan, ever, so maybe I should get on that. Tell me: is the Lightning Thief a good place to start or do you have a different Riordan favorite that I should read first?

The Dragon Republic

By R.F. Kuang

Again, read the first one, then stopped reading. Though I shouldn’t be too hard on myself, because I only finished the Poppy War at the beginning of this year (but it feels like two years ago, goddamn). Though on the other hand, I also have not been motivated to pick up the Dragon Republic once since finishing the Poppy War. Sooooo… I should fix that, I think.

The Way of Kings

By Brandon Sanderson

This one is probably not too popular among YA readers, but I’ve noticed its presence a lot more on Bookstagram in recent times. I’ve had this book for ages, like literal years, and still haven’t completely read it. It’s just so long. And the series itself is going to be super long, too. I don’t know if I can handle that. But I also know I will enjoy it. I’ve actually read the first half of The Way of Kings, and then stopped reading. Which is apparently the way I roll now.

And that’s it for now! There are more popular books I’ve never read, but I don’t want to embarrass myself further. What are some popular books you haven’t read? Are you planning to pick then up sometime?
