November/December Book Haul

If you’ve been following my Instagram lately, you know I kind of went crazy with the book buying this past month. In total I bought a whopping twenty-four new books. This is totally not what my book hauls normally look like; I think buying three books a month can already be quite a lot, being a poor college student and all.

BUT. SALES, PEOPLE.

I love sales. Especially Black Friday sales. Businesses go crazy with their sales. We don’t see this kind of stuff where I come from.

“Oh you want a good deal? Too bad. Best we can do is 15% off.”

But here, in this glorious country, 30%-50% off is normal! At least it is where I did my shopping. It all started with the Black Friday sale on Book Outlet. These books are already cheap, but they also gave 30% off the entire order! No one can resist a deal like that. And so, money was spent. But considerably less than I would have if things were full-priced. Book Outlet told me I saved well over a hundred dollars, with which I was pretty pleased. Here is a list of the books I bought:

A Shadow Bright and Burning – Jessica Cluess
Exile – Sharon Messenger
Reign of Shadows – Sophie Jordan
The Battlemage – Taran Matharu
The Bone Season – Samantha Shannon
The Diabolic – S.J. Kincaid
The Queen of Blood – Sarah Beth Durst
The Winner’s Kiss – Marie Rutkoski

And all of this I was able to buy for 35 dollars, so if that doesn’t convince you do to check out Book Outlet, then I don’t know what will.

Barnes & Noble also had a decent sale going on, I think it was 15% off? Maybe 20%? I don’t remember. I always think it’s funny how books on the website are way cheaper than they are in store. Even better, my mom and I share a membership so shipping is free! I ordered Days of Blood and Starlight and Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor, which are book two and three in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series.

In between sales I bought Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody. I’ve been seeing that book around a lot lately, and the story seems really interesting. And the cover is just gorgeous. Couldn’t resist, sorry wallet.

Last week when I went through my Instagram feed, I saw that Amazon was selling books for like three dollars, so of course I had to check that out as well. From this sale I bought:

Daughter of the Pirate King – Tricia Levenseller
Stalking Jack the Ripper – Kerri Maniscalco
Roar – Cora Cormack
Ever the Hunted – Erin Summerill
Renegades – Marissa Meyer
Heartless – Marissa Meyer
A Promise of Fire – Amanda Bouchet

Again, I saved so much money. And these books have been on my “to buy” list forever, so I was glad I was able to get them for a cheaper price.

The absolute best part however, was when I got a gift card from my work. I actually forgot that we get those at the end of the year, so I was happy to receive one. However, I expected it to be thirty dollars like it was last year, but, I got promoted from assistant to teacher and actually got a hundred dollars! Is it bad that my mind immediately went: “buy more books!” Because it did, and I obeyed. This order came in today and included:

The Reluctant Queen – Sarah Beth Durst (The Queens of Renthia #2)
Never Fade – Alexandra Bracken (The Darkest Minds #2)
In the Afterlight – Alexandra Bracken (The Darkest Minds #3)
Falling Kingdoms – Morgan Rhodes
The City of Brass – S.A Chakraborty
Nevernight – Jay Kristoff
Daughter of the Forest – Juliet Marillier

Again, these books have all been on my “to buy” list forever and I have no regrets spending my gift card on this haul. Seriously though, I am now going on a book buying ban. Even though I saved a ton of money I should probably work my way through all the unread books still on my shelves before I buy anything new. Let’s see how long I can hold off!
