As the saying goes, new year, new releases! There are quite some books coming up that will conclude series, which is equally exciting and terrifying. Here is my list of my most anticipated releases of 2018.
!!WARNING: this list might contain slight spoilers if you haven’t caught up yet with: all Throne of Glass books, The Dark Artifices, and all Red Queen books.
One of those books is of course TOG7, which is still untitled and doesn’t have a cover yet. The expected date of release is September 4. There isn’t even a synopsis yet, so I feel totally left in the dark (just like Aelin (oh god please don’t kill me for that one)), and it’s killing me. I am seriously wondering what the title will be. We’ve had Throne, Crown, Heir, Queen, Empire, and Tower. Do offer some suggestions on what you think the title will be! Also share you theories on how this will all end!
Another book I am highly anticipating is War Storm, book four of the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard. It will release May 15, and there is actually a synopsis on Goodreads for this one:
Mare Barrow learned this all too well when Cal’s betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart—and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her—Mare resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all… starting with the crown on Maven’s head.
But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal’s powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolishing everything—and everyone—in his path.
War is coming, and all Mare has fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?
In the epic conclusion to Victoria Aveyard’s stunning series, Mare must embrace her fate and summon all her power… for all will be tested, but not all will survive.
What do you mean not all will survive?!?!? Do you mean me when I finish this book?? Because it looks like this is just going to kill me. When I finished King’s Cage I was so heartbroken because I honestly thought that that was the end. When I went on Goodreads afterwards and saw there was going to be a fourth book I was so happy! I have a feeling this is going to be the best book in the series. I am also seriously wondering what’s going to happen with Maven in this one. I am not exactly #teammaven, but I am also not entirely anti-Maven.. Oh well, wel’ll see in a few months!
Last year I finally started reading The Dark Artifices when Lord of Shadows came out. I honestly should’ve waited until December 2018 to start, because that’s when Queen of Air and Darkness comes out. December 2018!! Imagine being in the right year but still having to wait at least 300-ish days to lay your hands on this magnificent book! It’s just cruel. Anyway, synopsis from Goodreads:
What if damnation is the price of true love?
Innocent blood has been spilled on the steps of the Council Hall, the sacred stronghold of the Shadowhunters. In the wake of the tragic death of Livia Blackthorn, the Clave teeters on the brink of civil war. One fragment of the Blackthorn family flees to Los Angeles, seeking to discover the source of the blight that is destroying the race of warlocks. Meanwhile, Julian and Emma take desperate measures to put their forbidden love aside and undertake a perilous mission to Faerie to retrieve the Black Volume of the Dead. What they find in the Courts is a secret that may tear the Shadow World asunder and open a dark path into a future they could never have imagined. Caught in a race against time, Emma and Julian must save the world of Shadowhunters before the deadly power of the parabatai curse destroys them and everyone they love.
“Innocent blood has been spilled.” I still cry when I think about it. That was a death I did not see coming at all. I have a feeling Queen of Air and Darkness is going to kill me even more. But, I am still extremely excited for this book. There is actually not a single POV that I found boring in the previous books, so I am assuming the same thing will happen in Queen of Air and Darkness. Also, more Ty + Kit please and thank you.
Where some series will end, others will pick up again!
Ever since I finished the Shatter Me series (like three years ago?) I always felt that the end was too open. I had too many questions about what is going to happen to Juliette and Warner now, and how they are going to rebuild their world. So when Mrs. Mafi announced she is going to continue the series I basically squealed in excitement! Synopsis right here:
Juliette Ferrars thought she’d won. She took over Sector 45, was named the new Supreme Commander, and now has Warner by her side. But she’s still the girl with the ability to kill with a single touch—and now she’s got the whole world in the palm of her hand. When tragedy hits, who will she become? Will she be able to control the power she wields and use it for good?
Tragedy? What tragedy? I’m going to dislike this, aren’t I? Anyway, I seriously need to do a re-read of this series, because I only remember the most obvious details. I am also very happy that the original books are going to be republished as hardcover with the pretty cover illustrations, because that first edition is kind of.. meh. Anyway, super excited for this one. And it releases March 6, so we won’t have to wait that long!
These are my most anticipated released of 2018. At least that ones that make me squeal in excitement. Some other notable releases that I will definitely pick up when they come out are:
Three Dark Crown #3 – Kendare Blake – expected September 4
Catwoman – Sarah J. Maas – August 7
Legendary – Stephanie Garber – May 29
Immortal Reign – Morgan Rhodes – February 6
Rage – Cora Carmack – June 5
What books are you most excited about for 2018?
