Happy Fae Friday everyone! It’s a late post today, so I’m glad most of my followers live in the Western hemisphere where it’s barely the afternoon. I had a presentation today, and I was low key a little nervous, so my brain didn’t allow me to do anything besides thinking about that…
Anyway. Fae Friday is hosted by Kristy @ Caffeinated Fae, and you can find all future prompts on her blog! All you gotta do is link back to her page and have fun with the prompt! Don’t forget to use #FaeFriday on your socials, so we can all find each other’s posts! Here is this week’s prompt:female characters
“It’s #FaeFriday and time to answer this week’s prompt! What are some of your favorite female characters?”
Last week I said how most of the books on my shelves are written by women. This week I’ll say that most of the characters in the books I’ve read are also women. So lots to choose from yet again! But for this prompt, I’m going to pick out four types of female characters that I really enjoy.
Nesta – A Court of Silver Flames
By Sarah J. Maas
So I really like complex characters that have many different sides to them. Nesta wasn’t a favorite when I read the ACOTAR series, but now that I’ve read A Court of Silver Flames she’s made the list. I enjoyed reading about her journey a lot, and loved to see her grow to love herself, too. Funny thing, my friend just finished the ACOTAR series for the first time, and said Nesta is her favorite. That bodes really well for ACOSF lol.
Spensa – Skyward
By Brandon Sanderson
So aside from complex characters, I also like plain weird characters. They’re usually the most funny and interesting ones, and Spensa is no exception. She’s also relentless. She has a goal and doesn’t stop until she’s achieved it. Spensa has one of the most interesting characters arcs I’ve read in a long time, too. It definitely isn’t a straight line, and I love how she further develops in Starsight, the second book. I really want to get my hands on Starsight#3 ASAP!
Lila Bard – A Darker Shade of Magic
By V.E. Schwab
Okay, aside from the funny and complex characters, I also love a good badass character. Bonus points of they’re female, of course. Lila Bard is all of those things, obviously. I haven’t met a reader yet who didn’t immediately like her, and to date she remains one of my favorite characters. I love how out of all possible career paths to choose from, she chose to be a pirate. Another fun fact is that I used a quote from this series on my graduation cap!
Zuzana – Daughter of Smoke and Bone
By Laini Taylor
Lastly, I love characters who are funny, relatable, and overall just someone you immediately want to be friends with. Zuzana from Daughter of Smoke and Bone is Karou’s best friend, and she’s just so likable. The perfect best friend honestly, since she doesn’t give up on Karou once. I loved her immediately in the first book, and I’m glad we got to see more of her in the other two books. One confession though, is that I haven’t yet read her novella… Oops.
That’s it for today! Which type of character do you like best: the funny one, the relatable one, the badass one? Maybe the evil one?? Let me know who your favorite female characters are!
