Happy #FaeFriday everyone! A little late post from me (even though it’s still morning in the U.S.), but I spent most of my morning blow drying my hair… I swear that stuff takes talent I don’t have.
Anyway, Fae Friday is hosted by Kristy @ Caffeinated Fae, and you can find all future prompts on her blog! All you gotta do is link back to her page and have fun with the prompt! Don’t forget to use #FaeFriday on your socials, so we can all find each other’s posts! Here is this week’s prompt:excited to read
“This week’s #FaeFriday post is all about looking to the future. What are some books that you can’t wait to read in the last half of the year?”
This post is going to be a mix of books I recently purchased, and books that are still coming out! Let me know if there are any in this list you can’t wait for either.
We Free the Stars
By Hafsah Faizal
We Free the Stars was one of my most anticipated releases of this year, but I never got around to purchasing it. But last week I finally decided now or never! I’m super excited to get into this one, and actually think I might start it this month. Although I’m also considering doing a quick reread of We Hunt the Flame, as it’s been a while since I read that one.
Kingdom of the Cursed
By Kerri Maniscalco
I’m so excited for Kingdom of the Cursed to come out! Kingdom of the Wicked was one of my favs of last year, and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get an e-ARC again via NetGalley. Although lately everyone on NetGalley has been ignoring me… Not even rejections, just complete radio silence. So rude. But one can always hope.
Iron Widow
By Xiran Jay Zhao
Speaking of NetGalley, this one got put on “read now” a while ago, and I couldn’t resist. The premise sounds so good! I mean: “Pacific Rim meets The Handmaid’s Tale in a polyamorous reimagining of China’s only female emperor.” Hello?!?! It’s set in an all new science fiction world, and I actually enjoyed Pacific Rim, so I’m super excited to read this book! It’s comfortably sitting on my e-reader now, so hopefully I’ll get to it soon. Iron Widow releases September 21st.
Cytonic
By Brandon Sanderson
Here’s one I’ve been anxiously awaiting since 2019. I loved the first two books in the Skyward series, but the second one seriously left me hanging at the end. I’m so hype for the story to continue. I think it’ll be even better than the first two books! The series has one of the most interesting character arcs I’ve ever read about, and I’m excited to see where Spensa’s story will go.
The Shadow of What was Lost
By James Islington
Lastly, here’s one I purchased a few months ago. It’s a good old epic fantasy that I’m excited to read but also a bit intimidated by. It’s a bigger book, and adult epic fantasies are usually so much more dense. But, the reviews are all really good, and they say it’s good for those who enjoyed Mistborn. That’s me!! So we’ll see when I get to it this year.
And that’s it for today! This was a small selection of books, released and unreleased, that I’m excited to read during the remainder of the year. Which books are you most looking forward to?
