December Reading Wrap Up

Hello reading friends, long time no post! Again… Life is kind of slipping away from me at the moment, so blogging is not on my mind a lot. Hopefully that’ll change after I’ve moved.
But I couldn’t resist posting a little wrap up! I had quite a good month, so let’s get into it.

LIFEL1K3 – Jay Kristoff

Starting off my December wrap up with a book that I started in November. I was still a little behind on my Goodreads challenge, so I decided to read something that I could read quickly. Jay Kristoff books are usually gone and finished within a few days. This one I overall liked, but it wasn’t my favorite Kristoff book ever.

Everblaze – Shannon Messenger

Going in an entirely different direction, I decided to pick up the third book in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series. Sometimes you just need to read a fun middle grade novel, ya know. I really like this series. The plot is interesting and the characters are fun! It definitely has some more serious themes in it.

A Curse so Dark and Lonely – Brigid Kemmerer

Yay, I finally read this book! I got it as part of my Book Outlet order, and I was super excited to read it. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire story, but I thought the ending was slightly anticlimactic. Yes I have questions that’ll hopefully be answered in the next book, but I thought there would be a little more difficulty with the whole… ya know, monster thing. Either way, a good read!

The Darkest Part of the Forest – Holly Black

A Curse so Dark and Lonely made me want to read more fantasy. This book has been on my e-reader for a long while, so I finally decided to pick it up. Also because I was still trying to make my Goodreads challenge, so I needed something on the short side. I overall enjoyed this book, but I thought the plot was a little slow to pick up. My ships fell into place though, so that was nice.

3.5✭

The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hugo

And now something TRULY different from what I normally read. This book was part of my Christmas gifts along with the Night Circus. I wanted to read more general fiction, and this book actually seemed interesting. Well spoiler alert, it was! I was sucked in from the first page, even though I was super confused about everything. This book kept me on my toes and though some of my suspicions turned out to be correct in the end, I never could’ve guessed at the events that happened in the finale!

I’m gonna end this December wrap up with some graphic novels that I read and counted towards my Goodreads challenge. I took a trip down memory lane and read the first three of the W.I.T.C.H. comics! I used to be obsessed with this series. Both the comics and the tv show were my life and I actually had merchandise as well. Reading this series as an adult I immediately found some issues here and there, but overall it was really fun to dive back into this old obsession!

So all in all I read five books and three graphic novels! Not bad at all. I guess that’s what happens when you put blogging and Bookstagram on the back burner. That was it for this December wrap up!

Have you decided what your first read of 2020 is going to be?
