Happy Top Ten Tuesday everyone! I know I haven’t posted anything in a while. I’ve been kind of in a rut lately. But I have been reading a lot this month, so at the end of this week you can probably expect my wrap up! I’m hoping to finish ten books this month. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and you can find all past and future prompts on her blog! This week the prompt is: new to me authors I read in 2020!favorite books I actually read quite a few books by authors I had…
Happy Top Ten Tuesday everyone! I hope everyone is having a peaceful first week of January. The WiFi in my house has been broken for a few days now, and I’m typing this from my friend’s apartment… But tomorrow a mechanic is supposedly going to fix the issue… I hope. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and you can find all past and future prompts on her blog! This week the prompt is: my most anticipated releases for the first half of 2021!favorite books As you may know, I made a superduperlong post about my anticipated…
Happy 2021! How was everyone’s New Years? I hung out with my friend at her apartment, and we watched fireworks from the balcony. Those are technically illegal this year… But hey, if someone is gonna fire off pretty fireworks, I’m gonna watch. I had a really good reading month; I read seven books! That brought up the final tally to sixty over the whole year. My goal was fifty, so I made it by a landslide! Well… a small landslide. But I’m glad I kept reading, because I read some really good books this past month!december wrap up A Kingdom…
Hello all! I finally finished a book that I want to review. Reading has been slow lately, but at least the books I have read have been high quality. This one was no exception. And the only reason I even found it, is because of The Story Graph! Anyway, before I start, I want to explain how this review will work, because it’ll be a little different than normal. So the first part of this review will be 100% spoiler free. But I just have to talk about some other aspects of Foundryside that tread into spoiler territory. So, I…
Guys, I’m now six books ahead of schedule for my Goodreads reading challenge… This has literally never happened before and I’m a little in shock. Anyway, I finished The Shadows Between Us yesterday, and since it’s a newer release, I thought I’d review it! The Shadows Between Us By Tricia Levenseller Published 25 February 2020 by Feiwel and Friends Fantasy | Young Adult | Romance My rating: ★★★.75☆ Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power: 1) Woo the Shadow King. 2) Marry him. 3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself. No…
I finished my fifth book of May yesterday, and I’m quite proud I finished that many books considering I had to write four papers this month. The Eyre Affair perfectly fits my Books About Books Challenge, as the title would suggest. The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde is one of those books that is both entertaining and absolutely absurd. I’ve been trying to figure out how best to describe it, but as it turns out, The Wall Street Journal perfectly encapsulates it: “The Eyre Affair combines elements of Monty Python, Harry Potter, Stephen Hawking, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Now…
Today I had actually scheduled a WWW Wednesday post, but after accidentally finishing both my “currently reading” and my “what I’ll read next” yesterday, it made no sense anymore. Luckily, The Upside of Falling is part of my Books About Books Challenge, so I get to review it! The Upside of Falling by Alex Light is a lighthearted, cute, YA romance novel. If you know me, you know that I basically never read romance or contemporaries, so I’m honestly quite shocked I finished this book in one sitting. It was just so cute! A quick synopsis, made by yours truly:…
It was one of my most anticipated releases of this year. I’d been looking out for it since I read Aurora Rising last year. And now I have but one regret… That I read Aurora Burning in the same month it came out. So the good news is that Aurora Burning was really really good. At least in my humble opinion. I had some minor issues, to be addressed later, but overall this book definitely lived up to my expectations. Let’s start with all the good… What I Liked Okay, so uhm… I liked pretty much everything. I honestly enjoy…
Welcome back to a new post about Books about Books! Okay, this book isn’t technically about books, but it does involve a massive library/archive of sorts. I’ve had the Archived on my shelves for a while. It was kind of a short book, and like all VE Schwab books, I sped through it super fast. First, here’s the blurb from Goodreads: The Archived By Victoria Schwab My Rating: ★★★.75☆ Published 22 January 2013 by Hyperion fantasy | young adult | mystery Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books. Each body has a story to tell, a…
I’m finally reading and reviewing more! I finished Sorcery of Thorns, and it’s the first completed book of my new Books About Books challenge, so here is my spoiler free review! I’ve had Sorcery of Thorns for a while, and even brought it with me to The Netherlands. Because it was still unread… I don’t know why I never picked it up sooner, but since I started reading it, I immediately wanted to read more books about books! First, here’s the blurb from Goodreads: All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised…
I finished my 15th book of the year! That means I remain one book ahead of schedule for my Goodreads reading challenge. There’s a lot of story in this short book, and I actually have opinions for once, so I decided to write a review about it! Havenfall came out March 3, and I almost immediately bought it. I really enjoyed Sara Holland’s other book, Everless. I haven’t read Evermore yet, though. Oops. I was surprised to see Havenfall is only a little over 300 pages, but there was still a lot of story in this book. Anyway, here is…
I finally finished a book again! I feel like it’s been ages since that happened. Reading has been hard for me basically since the beginning of March, and some events in my life didn’t make it better. Luckily I can always count on a good book to make me happy! Chain of Gold was one of the first books I bought at my favorite Barnes & Noble as soon as I arrived in the United States. It’s my favorite Barnes & Noble because I used to work there:) I didn’t start reading it until the end of March, though. And…
Review time! I just finished reading the Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, and honestly this book was so fun. I need more people to read it! The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers is one of those books that does not have a big plot, but is more driven by its characters. The blurb on the back makes it seem like the story is centered around Rosemary, but in the end every character in the book is important. So a little more about the setting. Rosemary takes on a job as a clerk on…
Hello readers! Ever since starting my Bookstagram account I have wanted to make it more about the books instead of just the photography and me rambling about my day. I would’ve liked to include reviews as well, but let’s face it, an iPhone isn’t the best for typing out entire texts. So I finally bit the bullet and started this blog! I won’t post reviews exclusively though, you can expect me to talk about basically anything bookish! If you have read my about section, you know that I am a girl from The Netherlands. However, I have decided to post entirely in…
