Hello book friends! It is I, come back from the dead. I literally haven’t posted since August last year, but I thought it was time to come back to my blog again. Will I be as consistent as I was before? Probably not, but I am planning to post more reviews at least. But first, let me update y’all on what I’ve been reading this year!
My reading goal for this year is once again 50 books. I can consistently make it without too much effort, so it’s been my yearly goal for ages. So far I’m at 15 books read, which isn’t a whole lot for me, but Goodreads says I’m two books ahead of schedule, so yay me!update update update
I’ve also started tracking my reading on the Bookly app. I love tracking my reading on there because for some reason tracking my daily sessions on Goodreads or The Story Graph feels like too much effort. And this way I can easily log my stats into my spreadsheet! Yes, I have a spreadsheet detailing all my reading statistics. Yes it’s color coded, shut up.
Anyway, let’s take a look at the books I’ve read so far this year!

Hmm where to start… I started the year strong by finishing Masquerade of the Heart on the first day of January. Then I got that beautiful edition of Heavenly Bodies in my Fairyloot romantasy box, and thankfully I liked the inside too! I FINALLY read The Will of the Many, and though I still have no clue what Will is or how it works, I still rated it 5 stars. Can’t wait for the sequel to come out this year. Also finally continued with Brandon Sanderson’s secret novels. The Frugal Wizard’s Handbook for Surviving Medieval England (that was a lot to type) was so fun! The Songbird and the Heart of Stone is likely gonna be one of my favorites of the year. Miche is so different from Oraya, it really speaks volumes about Carissa Broadbent’s writing capabilities.
Then I reread Fourth Wing and Iron Flame before diving into Onyx Storm because I got FOMO (and also I saw so many people being confused about Onyx Storm). I skipped all the parts in Iron Storm where Violet was annoying, but that ending of Onyx Storm was ??? I don’t even know but I need answers. Another reread was The Scarlet Veil, which I read in anticipation of The Shadow Bride, but now I cannot find a copy of the book anywhere! I did finally find a hardcover copy of The Temptation of Magic, which I’d been trying to find for ages. Unfortunately, I found the story a little average. Am I still going to read the next book? Most likely yes.
In between I read The Ragpicker King, the ending of which quite shocked me, and The Language of Dragons. The latter had an amazing premise, but I found the characters to be lacking. I absolutely had to pick up Story of My Life when I found it in stores, and I quite enjoyed it!
Lastly, I finally started the Bridge Kingdom series. Overall I enjoyed the first book, but it didn’t change my life. I will def pick up The Traitor Queen though, because I do want to know how this arc ends. Also the new covers are fantastic!
And that’s it for this reading update! Let me know in the comments how your reading is going to far this year. How many books have you read? Do you have a favorite already? Or maybe one you wouldn’t recommend your worst enemy? Tell me all!
