I was scrolling through my old posts and found my most anticipated 2018 releases post. I’m currently cringing at the horrible formatting. What was I thinking?? And why am I talking about 2018 in 2020? Well… because my dumb self forgot to make a 2019 most anticipated releases post… Big oops.
Let’s start with my list of most anticipated releases for 2018:
- Kingdom of Ash – Sarah J. Maas
- War Storm – Victoria Aveyard
- Queen of Air and Darkness – Cassandra Clare
- Restore Me – Tahereh Mafi
- Two Dark Reigns – Kendare Blake
- Catwoman: Soulstealer – Sarah J. Maas
- Legendary – Stephanie Garber
- Immortal Reign – Morgan Rhodes
- Rage – Cora Carmack
Kingdom of Ash
Back when I wrote my original post this boo didn’t even have a title or synopsis yet. And somehow I knew it was going to be heartbreaking. Funnily enough, I didn’t actually read this book until early 2019. First of all, it’s huge, and second of all, I was scared.
War Storm
I remember I did read this one immediately when it came out. I finished it in May of 2018, so quite a while ago. This series is very hit or miss for a lot of people, but I loved it so much! Anyway, it’s another one I can cross off the “I actually read this book” list.
Queen of Air and Darkness
I remember this one coming out very late in 2018, so I didn’t get to it until January 2019. Me postponing reading books makes sure that this post is at least somewhat relevant, ha. Lord of Shadows was absolutely heartbreaking, and I kicked myself for not starting the series later so I wouldn’t have to wait so long. QoAaD was probably my most anticipated release of the entire year!
Restore Me
When I wrote my original post I mentioned that the world building in the original Shatter Me trilogy was very lacking. How much did we actually know about the Establishment? Next to nothing. I did in fact read Restore Me soon after it came out in March 2018. I have since also read Defy Me. Oh, how the time flies.

Two Dark Reigns
For some reason I was not interested in Three Dark Crowns at all. I don’t even know why I decided to read it, but I ended up really enjoying it! I remember I went out to buy Two Dark Reigns between classes, and I read it pretty soon after. By now the series is done and over. I even read Five Dark Fates already, too!
Catwoman: Soulstealer
I didn’t even get this book until a month ago, so I have not yet read this one. It’s definitely on my 2020 TBR though!
Legendary
You know that feeling when you look back on all the books you’ve read and you think, “What, this book came out that many years ago already?!” That’s how I feel writing this post. Yes, I’ve read Legendary. And I’ve read Finale too. Loved both.
Immortal Reign
I have the entire Falling Kingdoms series on my e-reader, but I haven’t really made progress yet. I still need to read the third book, so I have nothing to say about Immortal Reign just yet.
Rage
I wrote my original post still thinking Rage would be released in 2018. Alas, the date got pushed back to 2019. I have the book, and I’m still excited about it. In other words, I still need to read it… It’s on my 2020 TBR!
